Bitch Cakes: July 2012

I just love reading Bitch Cakes' blog! I always come away feeling better about myself with a new found inner-strength and determination. I also found myself quoting BC often in my own blog and writing down many of the things she had said that meant a great deal to me so I could look back on them when I needed to.

It felt as though BC was writing to ME and helping me learn how to cope with my own journey so I decided to create this page in her honour. I feel privileged to be able to share her journey and I love looking at all of her photos. It is underneath these photos you will find the experience and insight of a woman called *Bitch Cakes*

The Best Motivation!

Dear Sheryl,

I love you!! I think you are amazing! Out of all the blogs I read, I always, always come back to yours as my number 1 go-to site for inspiration.

I love how you know what it's like to be overweight and that you get how hard this whole journey can be. You completely understand what it takes to achieve your goals and the set backs you have to overcome to get there.

You have taught me so much and I am forever grateful to you. You really have made an impact in my life, more than you will ever know. Thank you xxx

Welcome to Bitch Cakes

This page is dedicated to one of the most memorable, insightful and inspiring person I have ever come across when it comes to weightloss. Her name is Sheryl Yvette and also goes by the name of Bitch Cakes. Sheryl became a Lifetime Member of WW (8.9.2010) in America - New York, Brooklyn.

In total, Sheryl has lost an amazing 74 pounds (33.5 kgs), 62 of those pounds, which for us Aussies is a little over 28 kilos, have been shed while on a 4 year WW journey.

Now I know that 4 years may seem like a long time to lose 28 kilos, but Sheryl is a real person who has struggled most of her life with her weight and while she has been on her 4 year WW journey she has experienced losses and gains then more losses and more gains. She has "food triggers" and suffers from "emotional eating", just like me and I am sure many other people on their weightloss journey.

I love that Sheryl knows what we are all thinking, how we are all feeling, she has experienced it first hand and has beaten her demons and achieved her ultimate goal, which is also my ultimate goal. By reading BC's blog I have also learnt how to overcome some of my demons, I haven't completely beaten them, but I can say I know how to subdue them a little. With over 4,200 followers, BC has unknowingly helped a lot of people with their own weightloss journeys.

Sheryl is where I want to be. I want to be in control of my emotions when it comes to food and if I do have one of those uncontrollable food binges I want to be able to stop it and set things right - I don't want to get into the old head space of "I'm already fat so what's another 5 kilos". I want to be fit and healthy, I want to fit into my dream outfit. I want to be truly happy. I want the old me back.

I keep this quote close to me at all times because this was me. I had NO self-belief, I don't even think I knew what it was or that it existed inside of me.

Because of people like Bitch Cakes who unknowingly inspire others (like myself) by sharing their journeys, I can now happily say that I believe my life is worth more than a Tim Tam or a chocolate bar and that I DO believe in myself!

Keep telling yourself that you believe in you. That you're worth it, that you CAN do it. Eventually, you will realize you're capable of so much more than you ever thought and then you *will* start to believe. But you have to start somewhere. It's all in your head - all that self doubt is in your head, a script you tell yourself - but you *can* change it. Start believing now.”

BC loves her exercise and one of her favourites is her stair climb and I don't mean at the gym on a stair machine either, but real stairs. BC completed her Empire State Building stair climb - in just over 20 mins, that's 86 flights of stairs - how incredible having the opportunity to do something only a handful of people get to do each year!

Because of BC's love for her stair climbs, I had to include a photo of her just before she started her training.

This next picture is (naturally of) BC in her running gear. This run was the Gridiron Classic 4 Mile Run in Central Park which is the first of 9 runs that BC has to complete this year with the New York Road Runners in order to qualify for the 2012 NYC Marathon - Go Sheryl!

I love this photo with all the snow in the background and I can only imagine how cold it must have been getting up and ready for this run, which started at 9.00 am. This photo is pure proof of how dedicated and determined Bitch Cakes really is!
